STRATFORD
"Stratford has so much to offer! Sample their hospitality
- work the kinks out on the miles of walking trails, partake of great food
in the restaurants and bars; shop for groceries, fill your gas-tank. Enjoy
the many parks: go for swim on safe sandy beaches, or tour the scenic
routesthrough the community. Visitors can also use the Town Hall exercise
facilities, walking track and weight-training machines at no charge." Mayor
Kevin Jenkins.

The Town of Stratford is a small, but growing, community
with a big heart. As a full service community nestled along the beautiful
south shore of Queen’s County, Prince Edward Island. It’s located on the
opposite side of the Hillsborough River from the Island’s capital city of
Charlottetown, offering a beautiful scenic view of the capital from across
the water, particularly in the evening or when a magnificent cruise ship can
be seen in the harbour. The capital is the scene of nightlife, theatre,
historic sites and walking tours, shopping, restaurants, and full services.
“Just across the bridge,” Stratford is a suburban
community with a town and country feel, and lots to offer both travellers
and residents. Accommodation choices range from bed and breakfasts, RV
parks, and motels to charming country cottages overlooking Northumberland
Strait from Tea Hill. Specialty shops include a great hobby shop, specialty
golf store and more. In fact for all things golf, be sure to check out our
top rated local course, with its elegant pro shop and lovely dining room
overlooking the greens and fairways.
Groceries, pharmacy needs, gas, automotive supplies and
much more can all be purchased in our town away from the hustle and bustle.
Enjoy the beauty and quietness of the town’s public
beaches, manicured walking trails and parks. Stratford prides itself on
having 29 areas of well maintained parklands within its 22.1 sq km. Visit
beautiful Teahill Park to enjoy a cozy beach with picnic areas, public
showers, and restrooms. Pick up take out at one of the fast food outlets
near the bridge and head for one of our parks for a delightful repast on a
summer’s day.
If you feel like a break from riding you might want to consider polishing
your golf game. Stratford is home to The Canadian Golf Academy, located at
Fox Meadow Golf and Country Club. The Academy is Canada's largest and
premiere golf learning facility and a great way to get prepared for a game.
With one of North America's leading golf instructors, Anne Chouinard (coach
of LPGA star Lorie Kane), the Academy features programs designed to assist
any level of golfer. Programs include half-, one-, two-, three- and five-day
schools. Private lessons, short game schools and junior camps. The Academy
features computerized video swing analysis system, four short game centres
with target greens, an indoor training facility with multiple hitting
stations, an on-site club repair specialist and custom fitting systems.
An additional plus found at Fox Meadows - as well as golf, they offer a
great spot for a relaxing meal overlooking the course and the town of
Stratford.
Stratford is also home to a top-knotch shop for model builders. Great
Hobbies specializes in radio controlled model aircraft, boats, cars and
helicopters and much, much more, even model rocketry.
